What is Chiropractic?

How does it differ from other treatments?

Dr. Toueg uses the same methods of consultation, case history, physical examination, laboratory analysis and x-ray examinations as other health care professionals. Beyond this care, Dr. Toueg will examine your spine and muscular system to evaluate structure and function. This is what makes a chiropractor different from other health care professionals.

Medical

Occasionally, muscle relaxants or pain killers may be necessary to help relieve back or joint pain. However drugs only mask the symptoms. They often do little to resolve the problem.

Surgical

In some cases surgery is the only alternative. However surgery is a very aggressive and potentially dangerous therapy. It permanently alters the function of a joint and should be considered only after conservative options have failed. In fact, a 1988 report of the American Academy of Orthopedic surgeons revealed that 80-90% of all disc conditions are successfully resolved with non-surgical care.

Chiropractic

It is likely that your condition was brought about by a physical event such as a sports injury, accident, fall or even stress. Therefore, your condition will best be resolved by a physical treatment.

Through the last decade, an abundance of scientific research has been published in support of chiropractic spinal manipulation. In fact, a recent study in the British Medical Journal concluded that chiropractic treatment of low back pain is superior to the standard medical regimen in both clinical results and cost effectiveness. It's easy to understand why chiropractic treatment is now the most commonly used conservative treatment for low back pain in the United States.

Chiropractic treatments are a safe and painless way to restore the quality of life that you deserve.
